Teaching Physics With Mobile Technology

Why do we not use mobile app creation in improving learning in teaching physics? Coding is a powerful tool in visualizing concepts, solving physics problems and computational thinking which is a new paradigm of the digital economy. The advent of new graphical interfaces like App Inventor based on new educational technologies allows using coding for non-computer science subjects like physics.App Inventor is a project-based learning environment with and without using Android device. Creating algorithms with app inventor motivates students to know the physics in the application, anticipate and develop possible physics applications in a fun and playful manner. In this presentation we will talk about using mobile app inventor platform in physics classroom.

Biography

Hasan Shodiev's one of researches involves study of the technology enhanced learning tools for K-12 and undergraduate level students. Currently he is working on creating content for developing computational thinking skills in students at different age levels with various backgrounds. Hasan teaches problem solving skills for science majoring students. Hasan, a physicist and mathematician by education and passion, is working on bringing computational simulations from research to educational domains for non computer science majoring and K-12 level students. He is adjunct professor in Physics and Computer Science Department and teaches physics, photonics and automation of experiments in these fields by DAQ and instrument control communication.
