Angela Davis - Staphanie Hale - Sandi Hall

Inquiry Based Classroom in Science (Grade 7-10)

Join the PKE (Provincial Knowledge Exchange) teachers for a half-day workshop to explore and discuss the implementation of Cooperative Group Problem-Solving (CGPS) learning structures in grades 7 - 10 Science. This workshop is designed to help you set up your inquiry-based Science classroom from day one!

Providing students with an environment to constructively engage in learning through group learning environments enables students to develop key 21st Century skills including collaboration, critical thinking, communication and creativity.

Examples of classroom routines, structures and design of lessons will be provided and explored. There will be opportunities for discussion and brainstorming of lesson ideas. Free resources are provided!

 

Biography

Angela Davis is a secondary Science/Chemistry/Physical Education Teacher at Uxbridge Secondary School, Durham District School Board. She is the project manager for the Ministry Funded project this year. Angela Davis has been a key team member of this initiative for the past three years.

Stephanie Hale is a secondary Science/Biology Teacher at Uxbridge Secondary School, Durham District School Board. She has been a part of this Ministry funded project for the past three years and has developed support materials for Grade 9 and 10 Science programs.

Sandi Hall is an Intermediate Science Teacher who recently joined the TLLP-PKE Team. She has been working with a team of Intermediate Science Teachers to develop strategies and programs/lessons that develops 21st Century Skills in Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication and Creativity. Sandi has been working with her team to develop STEM kits for Intermediate Science Programming in the Durham District School Board.
