Resources and Supports for Physics Teachers

Stacey Joyce: VROC - Real-time Interactive Video Calls with STEM Experts

Join me for an interactive demonstration of VROC's free resources including the Experts on Demand program. You’ll learn how to use VROC's searchable online directory to find and place video calls to STEM experts using only an internet-connected device, webcam, microphone and speaker. Optional: BYOD if you want to get set–up on the spot.

Perry Kotkas: Careers in Geophysics! (or..."Why Study Physics in School?!")

Who knew that studying physics in school could lead to an amazing career in a little-known but very rewarding career as a Geophysicist?! Mostly employed in the petroleum industry, also in mining, government & research, and increasingly in the environmental sector, Geophysicists' careers are exciting, challenging and financially rewarding. This presentation describes the science, educational requirements and the varied and exciting opportunities for employment in geophysics, using interesting and sometimes spectacular visual images of technology and geophysics in action.
