Discrepant Events and Demonstrations

Discrepant events and Demonstrations are very useful tools to get students' attention and help them to understand a concept visually. This session provides various ideas of demonstrations related to Grade 9/10 Science (Chemistry unit) and Grade 11/12 Physics curriculum.

Biography

Ben Law teaches general science and senior physics at Unionville High School in York Region District School Board. With his astronomy and physics background, he designs different interactive activities in teaching astronomy unit in grade 9 science. He spends a lot of time in hunting for useful discrepant events and demonstrations in teaching science. He also enjoys using multimedia resources from internet in presenting different concepts visually to his students. By using the "Moodle" platform provided by York University, students in his classes have learned physics in a new dimension. In his spare time, he likes star gazing and playing drums.
